Vice President of Technology
April Butterfield is responsible for leading a global team of approximately 1,000 engineers across North America, Europe, and Asia. April’s team supports product design and development for some of Jabil’s fastest-growing markets, including automotive and transportation, healthcare, consumer, and defense and aerospace.
April is at the forefront of launching innovative new technology to market on behalf of leading brands, including global automakers and vehicle manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, and consumer device brands.
Joining Jabil in 2005, April advanced her career within the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) side of the business. Upon becoming director of engineering services, April was tasked with creating a new organization for Jabil, to better define and improve all design, engineering, and product development processes and procedures in place for meeting customer needs.
Known today within Jabil as VAVE, the value analysis and value engineering methodology offers a proactive approach designed to increase value and decrease cost throughout the bill of materials, creating a seamless transition from design to manufacturing.
April is also an active promoter of STEM initiatives and has led Jabil to participate with local schools and organizations focused on encouraging young girls to pursue a career in STEM.
Prior to her long career with Jabil, April worked at Motorola, developing handheld and infrastructure products. April earned her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
