When one of the teams from Tortosa returned home after the 2018 Deliver Best Practices competition, they knew the funds they received for a Jabil Cares project had to provide a meaningful impact for their community. Gestió Sanitària I Assistencial De Tortosa provides care for the city’s elderly population and was the perfect fit for their project.
“The facility provides special treatments to improve the elderly’s quality of life. It’s a free resource offered to all,” says Sergi Monino, Tortosa’s lean six sigma manager. “It’s important for us to see an organization like this continue in our community.”
The team donated the funds to the facility, which was able to implement two rehabilitation programs in place as a result. Certified therapy dogs now visit every two weeks, interacting with those being cared for at Gestió Sanitària I Assistencial De Tortosa. The funds were also used to purchase two therapy dolls, which qualified hospital staff will use to organize individual as well as group therapy sessions.
The Tortosa team also has plans to share their Lean Six Sigma knowledge with the hospital staff. Their goal is to help them improve their valuable services with the current resources they have.
The 10th Anniversary of the Deliver Best Practices Competition celebrated the 'good' Jabil sites are doing in our local communities around the world. Thirty-two finalist teams received funds to support Jabil Cares initiatives in their local communities. Jabil Cares, our community outreach and volunteerism platform, supports localized efforts around specific causes related to Jabil's three main pillars: Education, Empowerment and the Environment.
